Hi! My name is Sarah – I am a woman living in recovery on Vancouver Island. I moved to Nanaimo, BC 6 years ago to get treatment for my substance use disorder.
To say my life was unmanageable is an understatement. I was a full blown alcoholic, drinking everyday, lying, stealing and doing whatever I could to get what I wanted. I lost everything including family, friends and, mostly importantly, myself. I was suicidal and did not care if I made it another day, and if I did, I had to drink.
This blog comes from my experiences in life - the pits and the peaks. Living sober has taught me the basics of living a responsible, fulfilling life. Having accountability and people to share my thoughts and feelings with is such an important part of my recovery today.
I became a Recovery Coach just over 2 years ago and it's led me to wanting to create a space where people can come and connect, learn more about the addiction recovery process and experience the joys of living a sober life.
As a visitor here, you are part of a fantastic community. The experiences you have been through and the stories you so vulnerably share are invaluable to this process. I want this page to be a safe space to express and relate.
